My cat chewed through my monitor cable while I was mid raid in WoW

Last Tuesday night I was deep in a raid on WoW when my cat Shadow decided my monitor cable looked like a toy. The screen went black right as the boss pulled and I just sat there staring at my reflection. Turns out she bit clean through the DisplayPort cable near the desk leg where I had it bundled up. I ended up wrapping the chewed spot in electrical tape as a temp fix but ordered a braided steel cable from Amazon for $12 that she cant bite through. Anyone else have pets that destroy your cable setups?

Electrical tape is a good temporary fix but it won't hold up for long since the copper inside the cable is broken. That braided steel cable should work but make sure to get one that's actually thick enough... some of the cheap ones still have weak spots at the connector ends. My old cat used to go after my headphone cord all the time, I ended up running it through a length of PVC pipe which looked ridiculous but worked perfectly. Shadow probably thought the cable was a snake or something, cats are weird about things that move and dangle.

Nah, I kinda disagree about the PVC pipe thing. Wrapping the cord in something that stiff just makes it harder to use your headphones normally, especially if you're moving around. Better to just train the cat not to mess with it or keep the cord tucked away when you're not using it.
