Label maker changed my life but the labels fell off in 3 weeks

So last month I finally went through my whole home theater setup. New receiver, new streaming box, game console, and a soundbar. I used my buddy's label maker to tag every single HDMI and optical cable at both ends. Looked amazing behind the TV stand. Clean rows of tiny labels, felt like a pro. Fast forward to this weekend and I pull the stand out to add a subwoofer cable. Half the labels are just gone. The ones that are still there are curling up and one is completely blank. I think the heat from the receiver melted the adhesive or something. The TV area gets pretty warm. I'm trying to figure out if I should just use a marker on the cables themselves or maybe those spiral cable wraps with the colored bands. Anybody had luck with a specific brand of labels that actually stay on in warm spots? Or should I just go with colored electrical tape in different spots?
