Just found out the hard way about heat damage on HDMI cables

I ran a 15 foot HDMI behind my baseboard heater last week and the picture started flickering after 2 days. Pulled it out and the jacket was soft and warped right where it touched the pipe. Never thought cable placement could mess with signal like that, but the heat basically cooked the shielding. Anyone else had runs near heat sources go bad on them? How far do you keep cables from radiators or heaters now?
