Finally stuck the landing with velcro ties on my monitor arm bundle

Been fighting with that mess of cables dangling behind my desk for months. Tried snake sleeves, clips, even a cable gutter. Nothing looked right. Today I took the whole monitor arm off the desk. Wrapped each cable tight against the arm with 1 inch velcro strips. One every 4 inches. Snapped the arm back on. No sagging. No giant black tube of cables. Just clean lines. Going to do the same for the TV wall mount this weekend. Anybody else take the whole thing apart just to get it right?

Huh. I gotta say, I don't get the obsession with hiding every cable like it's a crime scene. My desk has a bundle of cords just hanging loose behind it. It's a desk, not a showroom. Those velcro strips look like you're trying to win a contest for neatest workspace. Plus, taking the whole arm apart just to wrap each cable seems like way more work than it's worth. If you bump that arm a little, the cables are gonna loosen up and you'll be back at square one. I'd rather spend 10 minutes stuffing everything into a cable sleeve and call it done. Clean lines are nice, but not if you have to disassemble your whole setup to get there.

Yeah, "like it's a crime scene" is exactly how I feel about it too. It's just cables, man. They're not hurting anyone hanging out back there. People act like a loose cable is gonna crash their whole vibe or something. And you're spot on about the arm thing, why would I take my whole monitor arm apart to hide wires I'm never gonna see anyway. Feels like overkill for something that's supposed to make life easier.
