Can we talk about zip tying cables to the desk leg? I wasted 2 hours undoing that mistake
So last Saturday I finally got around to cleaning up the mess behind my TV, and I did the thing where I zip tied every cable tight to the back leg of the stand. Looked great from the front, right? Then Monday night my soundbar died and I needed to swap the HDMI. I sat there on the floor with nail clippers for 20 minutes because I had buried the ties behind the stand and couldn't reach them. That is when it hit me, I had been treating cables like they were supposed to never move, but stuff gets unplugged all the time. Now I only tie cables to each other in a loose bundle and use velcro straps every 6 inches or so, so the whole thing can slide out when I need it. I also left about a foot of slack near each port instead of pulling everything drum tight. It is not as pretty in photos but it saves me a huge headache. Anyone else learn this one the hard way, or am I the only one who overdid the ties?
