Warning: I tried using a cheap knockoff compression tool on a job in Tempe last week.

The crimp failed after two days and the customer called back with a full signal drop. Switched back to my Klein CT100 and haven't had a single issue since. What's the one tool you guys absolutely won't cheap out on?

That's a solid warning right there. Gotta ask, what brand was the knockoff? Was it one of those no-name ones from the truck or a "pro" brand that just turned out to be junk? Knowing which one to avoid would help a lot of folks.

Eh, @lindagreen, probably not that big a deal.

Yeah, but @emery603, I think you're missing the point here lol. It's not just about the brand name, it's about the fact that these knockoffs are cutting corners on the battery cells and the charging circuit. Even if it's a "pro" brand, if they're using cheap cells, you're basically sitting on a fire hazard. I've seen videos where people take these things apart and the wiring is all janky, no thermal protection at all. The last thing you want is for that pack to go into thermal runaway while you're riding or charging it in your house. So yeah, @lindagreen, even if it looks like a big brand name, check the reviews and tear-downs before you buy. It's your safety on the line, not theirs.
