Update: a 20 year vet in Tulsa told me my cable dressing on the back of the rack looked like spaghetti, so I changed one thing
I have been running drops for about 3 years and always zip tied everything tight and neat, or at least I thought it was neat. After a big 48 port switch install in Tulsa, an old timer walked by and said my service loops were too short and I would hate myself later when I needed to move a patch. Now I leave an extra foot of slack coiled at the top of every rack and label both ends with the room number, so what is your slack rule, 12 inches or more?
My wife does the same thing with extension cords in the garage, leaves a big loop so she never has to redo it when stuff moves around. 12 inches sounds right, it's way easier to trim slack later than to splice in more when you're already up on a ladder.
