Tuesday was the worst day I've had in 10 years of running cable...
I was fishing a line through an attic in 105 degree heat in Fresno when my fish tape snapped in half and then the homeowner's dog got loose and chewed through the drop I'd just finished outside, and I still had three more runs to do before 5pm.

That "fish tape snapped in half" part really hit me. Read something the other day about how heat warps the plastic on those tapes over time, makes them brittle as hell. Probably been sitting in a hot trailer all summer before you even started. Dog chewing the drop is just salt in the wound, man. I would have lost it right there. Good on you for still grinding through the other three runs.

Man, that heat factor is NO JOKE. I gotta ask though - was the fish tape one of those cheap orange ones from the hardware store, or was it a legit Klein or Greenlee? Because I swear the cheaper ones get brittle in like a single summer of sitting in a hot truck. The good brands hold up way better but even they crap out if you leave them baking on the dash for weeks straight. Either way, that's a total nightmare sequence you went through. Did you at least bill the homeowner for the dog chewing the drop, or did you just eat that cost and move on?
