TIL the hard way that RG6 and RG11 aren't interchangeable on long runs
I was running a 300 foot line to a barn last week outside of Columbus. Grabbed RG6 like I always do. Signal was garbage at the other end. Buddy told me to try RG11 instead. Night and day difference. Lost a whole afternoon re-pulling it. Any of you guys keep RG11 on the truck for these long hauls or just me?

Did your buddy give you any slack for wasting that whole afternoon? My friend Dave did the same thing running cable to his shed last year... wouldn't shut up about it for weeks.

And Dave's probably never gonna let you live it down either, same as my buddy Mark. He still brings up the time I used CAT5 instead of CAT6 for a run to his workshop, and that was like two years ago. At least you had the right idea, just the wrong cable for the distance. I keep a 500 foot spool of RG11 in the back of my truck now specifically for barns or any run over 200 feet, it's worth the extra bulk to not have to redo it. Plus it handles the weather a lot better if you're running it outside, less signal loss over time with moisture and all that.
