Rant: that fiber reel cart gave me a bruised shin and a bad attitude
Spent my whole morning hauling a 1000-foot roll of single-mode off the truck because the cart kept wobbling on gravel. Thing tipped right into my leg and now I'm limping through the rest of my splices. Anyone found a decent way to move reels over dirt without losing a kneecap?

I used to think you could just muscle through with the cart on any surface, but after watching one bounce off a curb and almost take out my ankle I'm a believer in the two-man dolly or just hauling the reel by hand on dirt.

markl75 said "I'm a believer in the two-man dolly" and honestly that's the smartest thing I've heard all week. I actually read a post on a fiber forum where a guy built a makeshift ramp out of plywood and rubber mats to get the cart over gravel without it wobbling everywhere. He said it cut his setup time in half and saved his shins. I'm not that handy with tools but I'm seriously considering buying a cheap sheet of thick plywood to keep in the truck for exactly this. That cart is a hazard on anything but smooth pavement, and I'm sick of limping for three days after a job.
