Overheard a master installer swear by leaving 6 inches of slack at every junction box

I always pulled cables tight to the box until I heard him say "that slack saves you from having to re-pull the whole run if the trimmer nicks the jacket" and now I leave that extra loop every time, has anyone else found that extra slack pays off down the road?

Man that trimmer nick is exactly why I swear by that slack now too, it's honestly a no brainer once you learn that lesson.

Honestly that installer knew what he was talking about. Tbh I used to be the same way, yanking everything tight until I had a trimmer slip and nick a wire right at the box. Ngl that extra 6 inches of slack saved me from tearing out half the wall to re-run that line.
