Old timer taught me a trick on a steep roof job last week

I was running RG6 on a 12/12 pitch roof in Portland. This guy, must've been 70, walked up and said 'you're gonna bust your tail doing it that way'. He showed me how to loop the cable around my boot instead of using a hook. Saved me from sliding down twice. Anyone else get tips from random old guys on site?

Loop the cable around my boot" - no way dude, that's insane.

@sage_rodriguez I get why it sounds crazy but it actually works when you're on a steep pitch. The boot loop keeps the cable tight against your leg so you don't have a loose coil dragging behind you. Plus your hands stay free to staple or bend the cable. Portland rain makes everything slick too so that extra grip was a lifesaver for me. Old dudes know stuff we don't lol.
