My boss in Tampa said I was wrong about the ground block placement, but the signal test proved me right.
I keep seeing guys mount the ground block right under the drip loop where water runs down the cable, which can cause corrosion over time. I moved it six inches up on a job last week and got a 5% better signal reading at the main splitter. How do you all decide where to put yours?

That extra few inches makes a real difference. Got called back to a house with constant pixelation, and the ground block was a mess right in the drip line path. Moving it up the cable and replacing it cleared up the signal issues completely. Water finds a way in, and even a little bit inside the jacket right there kills your signal strength. Your boss might want it neat, but a working signal is better than a pretty one that fails.

Used to mount them right at the loop for a clean look. Saw a block fail after a few rainy seasons, the center pin was just green dust. Now I give it that extra few inches up the line, keeps the water from sitting against it. Your signal test proves the point, moisture in the jacket hurts performance before you even see the rust. Makes you wonder how many weak signals are just a wet block.
