I thought fish tape was just for pulling wire until a job in Cincinnati

Got stuck on a run with a tight 90 degree bend, and an old timer on site told me to use the fish tape to push a string through first. I was sure it would kink, but it worked perfectly and saved me an hour of fighting the pull. What other old school tricks have you guys picked up that actually work?

That old timer in Cincinnati probably learned that trick the hard way.

My grandpa in Dayton taught me that same trick when I was ten. He said he read it in a manual from the 50s, not from messing up. Sometimes the old ways are just passed down right.
