Debate: Do you run cable through the attic or the crawlspace first?

Last week I had a job in a split-level house near Denver. Owner wanted ethernet drops in the basement and the upstairs office. I always go attic first for upstairs runs, crawlspace for the basement. But my partner swore it's faster to do the whole job from the crawlspace and come up through the walls. Took me an extra 45 minutes arguing about it. What's your go-to move on a two-level house? Attic first or crawlspace first?

Attic first always, that partner was dead wrong.

I get what you're saying, but calling the partner "dead wrong" seems a bit strong. Maybe it depends on the situation. If there's a storm coming or the power is out, I could see wanting to get flashlights or blankets from the basement first. Attics are usually a last resort for me because they're hot and full of junk.
