A homeowner in Dayton asked me why I still run coax when his whole house is on fiber.

He said 'the old copper is just a backup now, right?' and it made me realize how much the job's core is shifting from installing new lines to maintaining legacy systems.

Ever try to run a smart home device that only has an old coax port? Fiber's great for speed, but a lot of gear still needs that copper line to even work. Keeping it live is more about device support than being a simple backup.

Yeah, faith_martinez61, my old cable box felt like that.

Remember my old security system that flat-out refused to work without coax.
