Why does nobody talk about grain direction on raised panel doors until it's too late?

I spent 3 hours last Tuesday re-sanding a cherry door because the panel grain ran vertical while the frame ran horizontal, and my buddy who has been building cabinets in Cincinnati for 20 years told me that is the number one thing he sees rookies mess up on their first 10 doors.
