Warning: I burned 6 cabinet doors in one afternoon and it was a good week anyway
Last Tuesday I was spraying lacquer on a set of maple doors for a kitchen job in Dayton and the booth temp hit 92, which made the finish flash way too fast and left lap marks on all six. I stripped them down with a card scraper and resprayed Wednesday morning at 70 degrees with a slower thinner mix, and every door came out glassy. What made the week stand out was Thursday, when the client walked in and said the grain still looked better than the factory finish on her old cabinets. I have stopped chasing perfect booth conditions and just started checking temp before I mix now. Does anybody else keep a cheap thermometer taped inside their spray area, or am I the only one who learned this the hard way?
