Vent: Grain direction on drawer fronts, the hard way

Last Tuesday I had a batch of 12 maple drawer fronts for a kitchen in Portland, all cut and ready. I didn't check the grain direction on a few of them, just grabbed the sheets on autopilot. After I glued up the frames and ran them through the sander, the light hit them wrong and it looked like three completely different sets of fronts. I ended up having to re-mill 5 of them and eat about $200 in material because of my own rush. Anyone else have a system to mark grain direction before you even start cutting, or do you just trust your eyes every time?

Check the grain before you glue, maple likes to hide that until it's too late.
