That cheap soft-close hinge failed after 18 months of normal use
I installed a batch of no-name soft-close hinges on a kitchen remodel in Portland last June. Customer just called saying three doors won't stay shut. Pulled one apart and the internal piston seal had gone to mush, common issue with the super cheap zinc alloy versions. I checked my invoice and those hinges were $1.80 each, now I'm looking at a full swap on 14 doors on my own dime. Anyone else had these knockoff hinges fail way earlier than the name brand ones? What brand do you trust for rentals?
