Spent 8 years sanding MDF edges before glue-up like an idiot

My neighbor who's been building kitchens since the 80s watched me do it and just goes "you're making dust for no reason, the glue grabs better if you leave the factory edge." Tried it on my next job and three months later not a single joint has failed - who else got taught the wrong way by some YouTube guy?

Yeah sanding edges is just making extra work for yourself, I learned that the hard way too.
