Spent 3 hours Thursday chasing a 1/16 inch gap on a face frame, and it was one dumb thing
So I'm building a set of upper cabs for a kitchen out in Fairview, nothing crazy, just shaker doors and a face frame. I glued up the face frame on Wednesday night and let it sit, and Thursday morning I clamped it to the carcass and the right stile was proud by about a 1/16 inch. I checked my cuts twice with the square, rechecked my miter saw setup, even re-cut one rail thinking I'd botched it. Stood there scratching my head for a while. Turns out a little squeeze of glue had dried on the bottom edge of the stile and I never scraped it off. One pass with a chisel and the whole thing sat flat. Felt like a total idiot for wasting half a morning on it. I'm gonna start scraping every glue joint before I even clamp up from now on. Anybody else ever burn hours on something that stupid?
