Rant: my 23 gauge pin nailer died mid face frame and I finished it with a hammer and a prayer
Happened Tuesday on a $900 maple job, the piston just gave out after 4 years and no backup gun in the shop. I tapped the pins in by hand with a nail set and only split one stile, so what's everyone running for a pin nailer that actually survives weekly use?
Four years on a $900 maple job and then it quits? That stinks. Hammer and a nail set saved you though (been there, done that, still have the mashed thumb to prove it). Next time keep a cheap backup in the truck, even a $40 one beats tapping pins by hand.
