Customer told me my drawer slides were too loud and I fought it for a week
I had a client in Portland complain that the soft-close undermounts I used sounded like gravel when pulled out. I told her it was normal for a $4,000 kitchen remodel. She insisted I swap them for the heavy-duty full-extension ones with nylon rollers that cost twice as much. I spent an extra Saturday redoing six drawers and honestly the silence is kind of nice. Has anyone else had a customer point out a noise you never noticed before?

And I thought I was the only one dealing with this kind of thing. Had a lady in my last kitchen job complain about the sound of the drawer bumpers hitting the cabinet face. She said it sounded like "tiny little pops" every time she closed a drawer. I told her that's just how soft-close works and she basically dared me to prove her wrong. So I spent a full Sunday afternoon putting those little felt pads on every single drawer front and adding these thin rubber strips to the drawer boxes themselves. Took forever but I'll be darned if it didn't work. She was right, it was a subtle noise I had completely tuned out after years of doing things the same way. Now I add those felt pads as a standard step on every job, just in case.

Man, that's wild how we just stop hearing things after a while, isn't it? It's like our brains have this weird filter that decides what noises are worth noticing and which ones just fade into the background.
