Bought some old hard maple at a garage sale for $20 and didnt realize it was 8/4 until I got it home

I used to think that $20 for hard maple at a garage sale wasnt even worth my time because I figured it'd be all twisted or beat up. But @kim.stella is totally right, this really is a score, especially if its 8/4 because thats a solid 2 inches thick after you plane it down. Honestly, this one deal kinda opened my eyes to how often people just want to unload lumber cheap without knowing what they have. I wouldnt even make cutting boards, Id probably rip it into strips and make legs for a dining table or something chunky. Its just crazy good luck when you stumble into something like this.

Man that's a killer deal. I mean I saw someone online mention that 8/4 hard maple is going for like 8 or 9 bucks a board foot at the big box stores now. So yeah you basically stole it. Must feel like winning the lumber lottery or something. I'd be so tempted to just plane it down and make a workbench top or some big chunky cutting boards.
