Am I the only one who switched from screws to biscuits on face frames?
I rebuilt a face frame for a kitchen island last month and used biscuits instead of pocket screws for the first time. The joints pulled tight with no gaps and the whole frame sat dead flat on my bench, which never happened with screws on that same maple stock. It added maybe 10 minutes to the glue up but saved me 45 minutes of sanding and filler work. A guy at my lumber yard in Asheville keeps telling me dowels are even better, but I have not tried that yet. Anyone else make this switch, and did you notice the same thing on rails and stiles?
