A simple drawer alignment took me 4 hours yesterday
I was building a kitchen set for a client in Austin and had one drawer that just wouldn't sit right. The face was off by maybe 1/16 inch and no matter what I did it kept binding. I tried adjusting the slides three different times and even swapped out the hardware. Finally realized the box itself was twisted by about 1/8 inch across 30 inches. Had to pull the drawer apart and re-glue the joints. Four hours gone for something I thought would take 20 minutes. Anyone else get trapped on a single drawer like that?

That 1/16 inch isn't visible to anyone holding a coffee 3 feet away.

Notice how people do this with everything these days though? It's like we've all collectively agreed to pretend small details don't matter just so we don't have to deal with fixing them lol. I see it with paint jobs where people say "you can't see that scratch from across the room" or furniture assembly where "that gap is practically invisible." Pretty soon we'll be telling ourselves a cracked windshield is fine because the sun isn't hitting it directly. It's just funny how we take the easy way out and call it good enough when we know deep down it bugs us.
