Switched our 12-person office from cable to fiber and the upload speed difference is not even close
We run a small design shop in Portland with 12 people and we were on a cable business plan for 3 years. Uploads were capped around 20 Mbps so when two of us pushed big video files to clients, everyone else's Zoom calls turned into a slideshow. We moved to a fiber plan with 500/500 in January and the same files go out in about a quarter of the time. If your team sends large files or does video work, check what your upload actually is before you sign another cable contract.
Ha, so your Zoom calls were basically a PowerPoint presentation with extra steps? That 20 Mbps upload cap on cable is such a trap because the download speeds look great on the sales sheet and nobody ever asks about the other direction. Going from 20 to 500 up is a 25x jump, which explains why those video files fly out now. Cable companies really sell you a sports car and forget to mention it only goes 15 mph in reverse.
