Vent: I thought the whole 'future log' thing was pointless busywork

I skipped it for months because my phone calendar seemed fine. Then I had to plan a family reunion in August and seeing the whole year on two pages actually helped me spot a conflict I'd missed. Do you really use yours or is it just for show?

Okay but how often does that actually happen? Most of the time my phone calendar works fine (and it pings me ten minutes before). The family reunion is a once-a-year thing. It feels like we're finding a use for a tool just because we bought the fancy notebook.

Noticed the same thing with paper maps. My phone gets me there, but unfolding a map on the hood shows the whole area and helps you see a better route you'd miss staring at a tiny screen. Some tools just work better when you can see the whole picture at once.
