Update: My habit tracker was lying to me for 6 months

I was looking back at my April spread and noticed my sleep tracker showed 8 hours every night. But I knew some nights I was up until 2am. So I went back through my phone's screen time logs and found my actual sleep was closer to 5.5 hours on those days. Turns out I was filling in the tracker based on what I wanted to happen instead of what actually happened. Has anyone else caught themselves doing this where you realize your own data is fake?

Hit yourself with the truth bomb huh? Something similar happened to me with my step counter. I'd toss my phone on the charger before bed and then realize I didnt actually hit 10k steps, so Id just shake it around for a minute like a maniac to bump the count up. Felt smart at the time but all I really did was lie to myself about being active. The worst part is you probably kept making decisions based on that fake data like telling yourself you could skip the gym because your sleep was fine. Now you gotta go back through months of entries and figure out what was real and what was wishful thinking.
