TIL my monthly spread was wasting 40 minutes

I timed myself last Sunday while setting up June's layout in my A5 notebook. Turns out I spent 40 minutes just drawing boxes and headers, which is nuts when I actually only use maybe 5 of the 12 trackers I put in there. I found the stat when I read an old Ryder Carroll interview where he said the method should be about logging, not decorating. Has anyone else done a quick audit of their setup time versus actual use? I'm thinking of ditching the fancy stuff and going minimal for July.

That line about logging versus decorating hit me hard. I heard a similar take on a planner podcast last year, where the host said most people quit their system because they spend more time building it than using it. Cutting down to just a daily log and a simple task list made me way more consistent.
