That $50 'premium' bullet journal notebook was a total scam
I dropped fifty bucks on a fancy dotted notebook with 160gsm paper from a brand everyone raves about, and my cheap Pilot G2 bleeds through worse than my old $8 Exceed from Walmart. After three pages of ink soaking through to the other side, I tossed it in a drawer and went back to the basic stuff. Has anyone else gotten burned by overhyped notebooks that just don't hold up?

Oh man, I feel this so hard. My sister bought me this super expensive leather-bound journal for Christmas one year from a boutique brand that guarantees no feathering or bleedthrough. First page I wrote on with a standard ballpoint, and it ghosted so bad you could read it from the back. I mean, the paper felt nice and thick but it just didn't live up to the hype. Now I'm back to using a plain composition book from the drugstore that costs like two bucks and handles everything I throw at it. Makes you wonder if those fancy companies even test their own products before slapping a high price tag on them, right?

My buddy got one of those fancy fountain pens from some Italian maker for his birthday. Paid like 200 bucks for it. First time he used it the nib just kept skipping and scratching across the page like a dying cat. He spent weeks messing with it, watching tutorials, even bought a special ink and some kind of expensive paper. Finally he just gave up and now uses a 50 cent Bic that writes smooth every time. I think these companies bank on people feeling too embarrassed to complain after spending that kind of money. You end up convincing yourself the problem is you, not the overpriced notebook or pen.
