That $50 bullet journal was a total waste of cash

I dropped $50 on a fancy leather-bound bullet journal from a boutique shop in Portland. The pages bled through like crazy with my basic Pilot pen. Anyone else get burned on a pricey notebook that couldn't handle regular ink?

Ugh my Pilot G2 bled right through a $35 Leuchtturm so I feel your pain. The boutique brands are the worst offenders because they care more about looking pretty on Instagram than actually working with normal pens. I bought this heavy paper notebook from Japan for like $8 and it handles everything I throw at it no ghosting no bleeding. Your pen shouldn't need to be some fancy fountain pen just to survive the page right?

@janaf76 you said "your pen shouldn't need to be some fancy fountain pen just to survive the page" and that's exactly right. but i gotta gently push back on the japanese heavy paper notebook thing. i think you mean the maruman mnemosyne or maybe a kokuyo campus? those are great but theyre not really "heavy paper" like people think. theyre more like midweight and they work because the paper coating is really dense and smooth. so it's not the thickness that stops bleeding, it's the surface treatment. a lot of people buy super thick paper from etsy and it still bleeds cause the fibers are loose and uncoated. just wanted to clear that up cause i see folks get confused about it all the time. youre still totally right that the boutique brands are overpriced garbage for actual writing though.
