Swore off mini layouts for 2 years, now I'm hooked on one little change
I always thought those tiny weekly spreads in a pocket notebook were pure gimmick, but after I tried a 4.5 x 7 inch setup during a 3 day conference in Portland, the 6am train rides made it click. The trick was using a single color pen and just 3 symbols for tasks, events, and notes, so it took less than 5 minutes to log everything. Now I keep a mini column in my regular A5 to catch the random stuff that used to break my daily log. Anyone else convert to a tiny layout for travel or work days, or is it just me?
That 3 day conference in Portland sounds like the exact kind of setup where tiny works, but my own 2 year ban came back after I forgot the mini column and lost a week of errands. I found the 5 minute log turns into 10 when I'm tired and the symbols start meaning different things each day, which defeats the whole point for me. I mostly stick with my A5 daily log and just accept that random stuff sometimes gets lost, since that feels more honest than pretending a tiny box can hold real life.
