My sister flipped through my bujo at Thanksgiving and asked why half the pages were empty
She wasn't being mean, she genuinely wanted to know why I had 6 blank spreads sitting between October and December. I got defensive at first because I'd spent $28 on that dotted notebook and felt like I HAD to fill every page or it was wasted money. But she was right, I was drawing these elaborate weekly layouts on Sunday nights, then ignoring them by Wednesday because they took 40 minutes to set up. So I switched to a bare bones setup, just a running list and one line per day, and I've actually used it daily for 3 months straight now. The fancy spreads looked great on Instagram but they were basically art projects I never touched again. Has anyone else had to strip their system down to almost nothing just to make it stick?
Man, this is the same trap people fall into with like every hobby and routine. Think about home gyms, someone drops a grand on fancy equipment and a wall mirror, uses it for two weeks, then the treadmill becomes a clothes rack. Same thing with meal prep, people buy 20 glass containers and plan out five course dinners, then by Thursday they're eating gas station pizza. The gear and the setup feel like progress but they're really just procrastination in a nicer outfit. You basically figured out that the system that works is the boring one you'll actually touch, not the pretty one that impresses people.
