My habit tracker made my anxiety WORSE, not better

Started a color-coded mood and sleep tracker in March and by June I was obsessively checking it three times a day, stressing over a single orange square. Turns out quantifying every bad day just made me fixate on the failures instead of moving past them. Anyone else ditch their tracker for something looser, like just a weekly reflection box?

The whole thing where we try to measure our way to feeling better is backwards. We already know from fitness apps that tracking steps turns walking into a chore, and now we're doing the same to our own minds. A bad day becomes a red mark on a grid instead of just a bad day. The fix for that isn't a better tracker, it's paying attention when you notice yourself turning a tool into a scoreboard. Weekly reflection forces you to zoom out, which is the opposite of what a daily checkbox does. It's like the difference between checking your bank balance every hour and looking at your budget once a month. One makes you feel broke, the other helps you plan.
