Grabbed a 5 year old journal off my shelf to flip through last night

I was looking for a phone number and ended up reading old monthlies from 2019. It's wild how much detail I used to put in versus now, I barely track anything besides work deadlines these days. Anybody else notice their style getting way simpler over time?

i mean is it really that deep though? i still write stuff down but its mostly like "pick up tile adhesive tuesday" and "call frank about the backsplash" lol. 2019 me was writing full paragraphs about how i felt about the weather and some random conversation with a cashier. its just life getting busier not some big loss of creativity or whatever. you probably dont need to track that stuff anyway unless you're trying to write a memoir or something.

You're probably right actually. I used to think every little thought needed to be saved but you made me realize most of it was just noise anyway.
