Found out my first journal from 2016 had 48 unfinished monthly logs, and I finally get why
I dug out my very first bullet journal last week, a cheap dotted notebook I bought at a Staples in Boise, and counted 48 monthly logs where I set up the whole calendar and never wrote a single entry. Back then I copied every fancy layout I saw online, and it turns out the founder Ryder Carroll only uses four basic collections, nothing close to what I was drawing. These days I just do a simple list and a habit tracker, and the thing actually gets used. Did anyone else start out overbuilding their spreads and have to strip it all back?
Reminds me of when I bought this fancy fountain pen to go with my first journal, thinking the right tools would somehow make me stick with it. The pen sat in a drawer for two years while the journal stayed blank. Simplicity wins every time, the tool never was the problem.
