Went from throwing away leftovers every week to meal prepping on Sundays

I used to buy groceries with zero plan and ended up tossing like $40 worth of food every Sunday when I cleaned out my fridge. After I found a simple spreadsheet template online that tracks what I actually eat vs what I buy, I finally stopped wasting money. Has anyone else found a system that actually works for their chaos schedule?

Flip it around and try a reverse meal prep where you cook ingredients instead of full meals. Like grill up a bunch of chicken breasts, chop veggies, and make a big batch of rice on Sunday, then mix and match whatever you're in the mood for during the week. I found that pre-making full meals got boring fast and I'd end up skipping them, but having a "buffet" of parts means I can make a wrap, a bowl, or a salad and actually eat it all lol. Stops the waste because you use everything before it goes bad, and it works even when your week goes sideways.

The reverse meal prep thing is actually brilliant. I got so sick of eating the same chili on Wednesday that I ordered pizza and let the rest rot, so having parts to mix up sounds way more realistic for my brain. Do you find the veggies keep okay through the week or do you prep some midweek too?
