Vent: I used to blow my entire check on fast food and then act surprised when I had nothing left
Back in 2021 I was spending like $400 a month just on DoorDash and fast food runs because I kept telling myself I "deserved it" after long work days. Then I had a week where my card got declined at the grocery store and I had to actually look at my bank statements. Did any of you have that one moment where you just snapped and realized how much small spending was eating your paycheck?

$400 a month is rookie numbers honestly, I knew people blowing double that on takeout alone. People act like spending money on food is some huge moral failing but like, who cares, just budget for it if you want it that bad.

Totally agree, $400 is nothing in the grand scheme of things. I used to grab coffee and a pastry every morning before work, plus lunch out almost every day, and that alone was like $350 a month. Then I'd still get delivery for dinner a few times a week, so I was easily over $600 on food spending. People would give me weird looks when I said that but I wasn't hurting for money and it made me happy, so why not. As long as your bills are paid and you're not going into debt, spend your cash on whatever brings you joy. Life's too short to feel guilty about a burrito.
