Vent: Almost got tricked into a meal kit subscription again
I was about to sign up for HelloFresh last week for $60 a week, thinking it'd save me money on groceries. Then I actually looked at my receipts and realized I spend about $45 at Aldi for the same amount of food. I canceled the order halfway through and saved myself $15 a week plus the hidden shipping fees. Has anyone else noticed those meal kits aren't really cheaper than just shopping smart?

But have you actually factored in the time and energy spent on meal planning, shopping, and dealing with food waste? I get that Aldi is cheap, but I found I was throwing away a lot of fresh stuff that went bad before I could use it. For me, the meal kit saved me from buying that big bag of spinach or that extra pack of chicken that I'd end up tossing. Plus, the recipes were actually something new and stopped me from eating the same three meals over and over. I think $60 a week is worth it if you value not having to think about what's for dinner every single night. It's not always just about the price tag on the receipt.

Totally agree with @oliviabennett, I had the same problem wasting half my produce from Aldi every week.
