TIL you can call your insurance and ask for the 12 month premium instead of monthly, saved me $340 on my truck
Was paying $186 a month for full coverage on my 2014 Silverado. Got a renewal notice in January and actually read the fine print for once. It said paying in full gets a discount but they never advertise the amount.
Called the 800 number, sat on hold 22 minutes, asked the guy straight up what the paid in full number was. Turns out it was $1,890 for the year vs $2,232 if I kept doing monthly. That is $342 back in my pocket just for asking a question.
I had to put it on a card and pay it off over two checks, which stung for a bit, but the math checks out. Has anyone else done this with home or renter's insurance? Wondering if the discount is bigger on those or if my truck rate was just high.
Sat on hold for 22 minutes" to save 340 bucks, that's like 15 dollars a minute, better than most jobs pay. Honestly the wild part is that actually reading the fine print once paid off, most of us just toss that renewal notice straight in the trash. I did the pay in full thing on my renter's policy and the discount was way smaller, like 40 or 50 bucks, so don't get your hopes up too high there. Home might be a different story since the numbers are bigger, but yeah, your truck rate was probably just on the high side to start.
