That moment I blew my grocery budget and actually fixed it
I was standing in the checkout line at Aldi last Tuesday and realized I had spent $80 more than usual because I kept grabbing snacks without looking at prices. I walked right out, put half the stuff back, and ended up saving $45 that I put straight into my emergency fund. Anyone else have a moment where you caught yourself mid-spend and stopped it?

You're patting yourself on the back for putting that $45 into an emergency fund but the real win would have been leaving the snacks and keeping that money in your pocket for actual groceries you need. Honestly, walking out and putting stuff back sounds dramatic and kinda wasteful of everyone's time, especially the cashier's. That $45 you "saved" is basically nothing in the grand scheme of a month's grocery bill, might as well have just bought the snacks and enjoyed them. Plus, now you got all that guilt and zero satisfaction from the whole thing. Seems like a lot of fuss over a minor impulse buy that wouldn't have broken the bank anyway.

Yeah I heard some finance guy say grocery stores put the expensive stuff at eye level on purpose.
