Switched to cash stuffing for groceries, saved $87 in one month

I kept overspending on groceries no matter what app I used, so I tried the old envelope trick from my grandma. Pulled out $300 in cash every Monday for food and put my cards in a drawer, had to actually think before buying that $9 salsa at Whole Foods in Austin. Ended up with $87 leftover by week four and I still ate fine. Anyone else find that physically handing over bills makes you second guess impulse buys way more than tapping a card?
