Paid $38 for a parking app reminder that did nothing

Downloaded one of those smart parking apps that promised to text me before my meter ran out. It never sent a single alert, and I got a $45 ticket downtown Portland last Tuesday. Has anyone else had better luck with the free timer on their phone instead?
