Overheard my neighbor say she 'saved' $200 by not fixing her car for 6 months...

She was telling someone she let a small engine rattle go because the repair quote was $200. But then her fuel mileage dropped so much she spent over $300 extra on gas in that half year. It made me think... is letting a small cost slide to avoid a bigger one up front ever actually a win? Or does it always bite you later? What's a time a 'save now' move actually cost you more?

Exactly what @logan_white59 said, the cheap fix is never cheap later.

My old fridge had a seal going bad and I ignored it for a year. The motor ran constantly trying to keep cold. My power bill went up almost forty bucks a month. Ended up paying way more than a new seal would have cost. Why do we always think the cheap option now is the smart one?
