My local coffee shop's $6.50 latte habit was killing my budget, not my sanity.
I ran the numbers after 6 months and saw I dropped $1,170 on fancy drinks at Brews & Views on Oak Street, so I switched to a $20 thermos and a $8 bag of beans from the grocery store and now I save $90 a month, anyone else wake up to how much cafe markup actually costs?

Flip that math around and you are trading $90 for the joy of drinking burnt grocery store sludge.

The thermos thing is smart but you might be missing the bigger picture about what makes cafe drinks so expensive in the first place. Commercial rent on Oak Street is brutal and those $6 drinks are basically subsidizing the barista's health insurance and the free wifi you used to camp out on for hours. Still, $90 a month savings is nothing to sneeze at, just don't forget the convenience factor of having someone else make your coffee when you're running late.
