My 15 year old washing machine finally gave up last Saturday morning

I woke up to a pool of water in the laundry room and the drum just sat there full of soapy clothes. Turns out the belt snapped and the pump was shot, repair guy quoted me $450. Anyone else ever fix an old machine yourself or just bite the bullet and buy new?

Fix that thing yourself for under 100 bucks. Belts are basic and pumps are plug and play if you can watch a YouTube video.

$450 is just the price of a new machine nowadays, everything's built to fail.
