I thought cash stuffing was just a TikTok trend for teens
My friend in Austin swore by her envelope system, but I figured my bank app was fine. Then I went over my grocery budget by like $80 three weeks in a row. She gave me a set of envelopes and I put $300 cash for food in one. Seeing the physical money go down made me stop buying random snacks. Has anyone else tried this old school trick and had it actually work?

Totally works for me too. Switched to cash for eating out and it changed everything. Swiping a card feels like fake money but handing over cash hurts in a good way. Makes you really think before you buy that extra drink or appetizer. What category did you start with?

See that part about cash "hurting in a good way"? I gotta disagree, @derek_cooper. Carrying a wad of bills feels unsafe and messy to me. My card tracks every coffee automatically, so I don't have to save receipts. The real pain is getting caught short at the register because your budget envelope is empty.

My grocery envelope ran out halfway through the month once.
