I finally stopped overbuying snacks at Costco after a $60 mistake

Last month in Dallas, I walked out of the Costco on Mockingbird Lane with three giant bags of trail mix, two boxes of granola bars, and a tub of pretzels that I swore I'd eat. After two weeks, half of it was stale and I had to toss the rest. My wife just looked at me and said, 'You do this every time.' Now I stick to a list and only buy what we actually need for the week. Has anyone else had to ban themselves from the bulk section?

The Mockingbird Lane Costco is a BEAST, I've been in that parking lot battlefield. I had the same problem with their giant bag of almonds, finally realized I was just buying them because the price per pound looked good. Now I force myself to only buy bulk for non-perishable stuff we go through like clockwork, like toilet paper and trash bags. Granola bars and snacks go bad way faster than you think even with the seal.

Oh man, I am right there with you on the stale snack graveyard. My last Costco run ended with me trying to choke down an entire bag of those dried mango slices before they turned into leathery rocks. It's like I have this weird hope that buying the giant size will magically make me eat more of it, but nope, I just end up with a pantry full of regret and expired crackers. The worst is when you open the "resealable" bag and it's basically a lie, you can hear the crunch fading with every passing day. I've basically banned myself from the snack aisles now too, my wife just looks at me and says "remember the granola bars" whenever I grab a cart.
